1959 BMW R60 Mt glorious cafe ride twin Tuesday

Very keen to get out on a ride, so much so that I forgot to turn on the fuel! Headed up to Mt Glorious cafe for the vintage bikes, coffee and a chat. Happened to meet someone who knew the original owner of the BMW! Such a small world.

I've had this bike for 25+ yrs and rode it a bit back then. It broke a conrod bolt and I chopped 7lbs from the crank and fitted Carrillo conrods. I picked up a job lot of Hyde parts, this barrel among them, so bored and sleeved the cylinder to fit some 74mm Arias forged pistons I had. Up from 67mm so it became 903cc. Cams are stock so are the valves. Carbs are cheap and cheerful 32mm spigot as I welded on stubs yrs ago. I had Amals but they wouldn't clear the starter. Aftermarket starter works great as you can see. Thing makes about 60hp on the dyno, as much as a stocker does at the crank. Pulls like a twin. I hope to do another video soon showing about 6 Brits with buttons.

I thought I'd share these 7 minutes. Many hours to create this by Ann (Wife).

We shipped our old Harley to USA in 2015 and id 41,000 km over there from Arctic Alaska to Key west. 39 states and Canadian territories. But this little snippet, is just an extract of the route we re-enacted based on Easy Rider with the PRECISE locations from CA to New Orleans.

We even had coincidentally a Cop car trailing us in the little town where they (in the movie) went to jail for interfering with a parade! 


We had to climb a fence at night to get into the same grave and memorial in New Orleans.

Toowoomba HMCCQ Area Rally 15 March 2026.

This is a special event as we celebrate the 50-year anniversary since the last time this rally was held!

The rally held a series of six rides through the surrounding area. Some through ranges and twisties, others, like this one through cropping and grazing country. Very impressive facilities used as a base for the event.

Taking the bike 'off-road' into situations it no doubt was designed to do back then! There were a lot less sealed roads in 1942.

Historical Motorcycle Club of Qld - Rally at Ivory Rock Camping Area, Peaks Crossing, near Brisbane, Australia 2024. A yearly event with rides around the scenic rim and Ipswich area, Harrisville, Boonah, Rosewood.

This video is of professional standard and well worth a watch. The use of a drone gives it a very different perspective to what we do and one not often seen in club videos.

Had some problems so watch this video for a quick explanation of my fitment woes. Working good now. Worst problem was the belt tension as supplied was too loose. More than 90deg twist and 1.5" ? up/down play. I made another HTD front pulley 1 tooth bigger by buying a pulley over the counter at a bearing shop and after gutting fitted an Atlas engine pulley. This gave me 3/4" up/down play and 45 deg twist on the same belt. Just right. Love my CV carbs so keep a look out for a basic dial in on big Brit twins.

The Ipswich guys have been producing GoPro first person perspective videos for a year or so now, this is one of them. Ride terrain varies from ride to ride, this is typical of a nice cruisey one.

Join me at the Historic Motorcycle Club of Queensland ,breakfast ride to the Sundowner Hotel at Haigslea , Queensland , Australia. The weather turned out to be okay for this time of the year , Summer time in Australia , around 31c today , hot and humid but not too bad. Lots of awesome bikes here today as you will see when you watch the video. I was using my DJI Action 3 and Samsung S21 to take my videos, please try to view this video on your big screen TV , your phone just doesn't do the video justice , I'm in 4K 25 , awesome quality on my big screen TV. P.S Just realized that I said the Triumph was a Tiger , in fact it was a Dominator.

1972 XL250 Motosport Back to Life

Restoration of a 1972 Honda XL250 K0. The very first model that lead to the modern 4-stroke off-road bike revolution. Packed with innovation including a 4 valve head and magnesium gearbox sidecovers.


This one was bought in Murwillumbah as a wrecked paddock basher in 2010 and stored in parts till I retired.  Full registration in 2016 then switched to SIVCS a few years after that. 

Now does both HMCCQ road and dirt events.

Triumph 850cc with Electric Start

The E Start conversion on this bike is supplied by Shropshire Classics in the UK. Quite an easy job. Push button Brit Classic bike. Good thing for a dicky knee. It has been a great cruising bike since I first built it from bits collected and now is even better.
